The
Gender Mainstreaming and Social Inclusion Project (GeMSIP)
was officially commenced in February 2009 as a technical
cooperation project between the Government of Nepal (GoN)
and Japan International co-operation Agency (JICA). The
overall goal of GeMSIP is to develop and implement GM/SI
responsive programs in Nepal. Particularly, this project
has seven major tasks: Enhancing GM/SI understanding at
national and district levels, Conducting GM/SI appraisal
and GM/SI audit on development plans in the target districts,
Formulating GM/SI-responsive development plans in the
target districts, Carrying out GM/SI monitoring on plans
and projects in the target districts, Developing “GM/SI-responsive
practical operational manual for local bodies and WDOs”,
Developing national strategies for disseminating the “GM/SI
manual”, Strengthening functions of GM/SI-related committees
and their networking. The duration of GeMSIP is about
five years from Febraury 2009 to January 2014. It has
selected two districts, Morang and Syangja as the target
districts. |
